Sars anyone?

Posted by Jerry Sat, May 17 '03

Phew. Back from so-called SARS-plagued hometown (FYI, Johor Bahru that is. And for whoever that still don’t know where’s JB even after 10++ years Malaysian education , fxxx you), thermometer reading indicates that at less that 38 degrees body temperature so I’ll still be alive for the next few decades. Just great. I just remembered my CSE lecturer ranting excitedly to the front-row guys last Wednesday,”You know, they just lowered the standards already! It’s now 38!“... God knows whats the big deal in it. Condemn my ignorance, but I’m a reckless 19 with countless years ahead, I’ve got visions for me hugging my great-grandsons by the next century, and I believe in luck so much that I believe I’m lucky enough to not get things like these so I give less than a piece of human faecess for just a little bug hype.

Meanwhile MediaCorp TCS8 in the Lion City is doing a full-blown half-an-hour news report on the “Not-Just-Another-Flu“ bug (as they call it), local malays are rolling their eyeballs saying, “See? Told ya not to eat so much pork.“ (I heard there was some email propagating through them Jabatan Kimia people, noting lots of “toxins” and chemical crap in the meat) while chinese just go what the hell and shrug it all off.

Yeah. So like all the other chinese, what the hell. i>shruggo

I am... Xavier Junior II

There was this question in one of those Emode.com “How psychic are you?” personality tests: How many times in a lifetime have you been thinking of a certain friend, missing him/her, and then within a short while got a phone call or sms message or something similiar from him/her? Or how many times have you thought of a particular person for no reason at all, and then see the person beaming at you a few metres away just moments later? And twice in the same day? Or how about that time when midway through conversation your friend’s thoughts will just make a brief 'pop’ at the forefront of your mind, and at the same time having him/her expressing the same thing simultaneously? Have you?

My answer? So many times I can’t even keep in count. Things like this happen to me now and then, suprising but mostly pleasant, may it be a short friendship SMS from an old friend that used to work with me some time ago, or the girl that lives next door, or your parents or whoever pal I might be chatting to.

So that makes me psychic? Perhaps I should sign up with Professor Xavier’s School for The Gifted. Or whatever that school in the X-men movie was called. Then I can unleash my mental energy to dominate this patethic chunk of a planet & rulez over all humanz wif absolute l33tn3ss! W00t!

...

Or maybe I should stop watching so many movies already. =p

It's a boy!

Now after a few tweaks, a page-full of bugs, (a stupid php error about tags. but let’s not get my blood boiling on a pleasant saturday evening) a day-long wait for somebody to come up with a fix at the tidakada.com forums (Owner is suspiciously SE-Asian…. Hmm…), and a few edits later, it’s finaallllyyy up!

I annouce to ye, (drumrolls please) The New Blog! Well, and The New Blog No. 2! “Two? WTF?”, you ask? Well, I haven’t decided which one to use yet, though the better conscience of me has a greater favor for b2, which just has a nice clean interface for the lightweight blogger like me. I’ve just got it fixed and up running an hour ago, so the white and orange-ish templates are the default unchanged one that came with the installer package, and so’s the whole damn thing’s layout and stuff. Am gonna tweak it over these few days… Oh and by the way my free host doesn’t come without flaws. It has to be turned offline by Alaskan time (-8GMT) midnight or something like that everyday for 20 minutes or so, which I think is equivalent to the Malaysian 4pm evening time. Do note.

Psst… see the “Register“ on the right-hand side of the page? That’s right. You can sign-up and become one of the blogging team! Well, if you’re interested in throwing in posts there anyway. =p Just no sensitive/ stupid/ provoking posts please.

And by the way, am using wbloggar version 3.01! These guys are just doing a great job of keeping good software updated everytime. Fellow bloggars do have it lookie here.

P.S: This is a public broadcast. I’ve got 100mb, 4GB bandwidth and a whole arsenal of stuff offered to me by my webhost, and I can host 3 subdomains. Deduct one (read previous post), leaves two more to go. If anybody’s interested to get hosted and doesn’t mind a 30 minute downtime per day plus a less-than-desirable host plus an incredibly undesirable subdomain name (username.drkangel.distanthost.com, yes. 4 words.), do leave a message. Thank you. End of broadcast.

Updates

Installed PHP-Nuke on domain, found myself a hostee, read up on tons of mind-boggling PHP gook, fumbled around with the system’s control panel, added subdomain and ftp account for said hostee, and got my domain file system all fuhged up by DSN-rerouting. Dang! System admin~!!!

Perfect! I’m thinking of trying out either PHP-Nuke with a blogging hack or this one: Project Steve Guttenberg... yeah sounds more like a corny comedy title of that comedian guy than a PHP weblog system. But its free-source so coulda help testing it out. Meanwhile, PHP tagboard installation complete! I have some kind of problems linking it out into an iframe so I guess I’ll have to postpone late-night website editing work till tomorrow.

Anyways its 3am and I have class after 7 hours… Deduct 1 hour from preparing for the morning (WC quality time, breakfast, prepping meself to look good ;D ) leaves me only 6 hours of shut-eye time… Drats!
